Mixed Martial Arts

We teach Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), a martial art created by assimilating knowledge from multiple different martial arts, such as Boxing, Muay Thai, Karate, Judo, Wrestling and more, to provide comprehensive martial art coaching.  MMA teaches self-defence, punching, kicking, elbows, knees, striking defence, takedowns and basic groundwork.  MMA is set upon the three pillars of mind (knowledge of martial arts and the body and the importance of continual education), body (martial art technique and physical health and fitness), and soul (self-development towards becoming a better person and a providing a greater contribution to the world community). 

We work through a yearly curriculum with two gradings a year, moving from white belt, through blue, purple and brown to black belt and then on to higher levels of black belt.

Karate Belt

white belt

You will learn; stances and footwork, defensive blocking, covering and avoidance (slip, bob, roll), basic punches (jab, cross, hook, uppercut), basic kicks (front kick, calf kick, thigh kick, round house), basic level of health and fitness (cardio, flexibility, balance, strength).

Blue Belt

You will learn:


  • Elbows, knees, takedowns and clinches

  • Ground and pound

  • Defence from grabs and holds

  • Side kick and back kick

  • Increased level of health and fitness and basic knowledge of physical anatomy and biological systems (cardiovascular, muscular, skeletal, and digestive).

Purple belt

You will learn:

  • Spinning strikes (elbows, backfist, kicks)

  • Complex kicks (hook kicks, question mark kicks) 

  • Flying strikes (superman punches, knees)

  • Increased efficiency in technique

  • Increased strike and takedown success rate

  • Strategy in sparring

  • Increased fitness and knowledge of health and fitness including basic nutrition, and increased knowledge of biological systems

  • Developing character and spirit through kindness, generosity and compassion.

Brown belt

You will learn:

  • Experience and successful strategy in sparring

  • Improved technique

  • Creativity to morph knowledge to suit personal strengths

  • Basic knowledge of one weapon

  • Comprehensive basic knowledge and physical demonstration of health, fitness and body mechanics

  • Greater development of character and spirit  (showing confidence while remaining humble, showing empathy and compassion while remaining true to self, showing generosity and kindness while staying true to own boundaries and being wise while remaining open minded).

black belt

You will learn:


  • Advanced techniques in training

  • Adding another weapon

  • Continued personal growth through meditation, philosophical study, religion or spirituality

  • Current 1st aid and CPR

  • Cert 3 in Fitness/sport & rec/sports coaching

  • Provide a service regularly for one year
